Lunenburg, NS – March 3, 2025 – The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore’s 25th Annual Curl for a Cause has ended on an extraordinary high note, raising an astounding $137,962.31 this year! With this incredible achievement, the event has officially surpassed the $1-million mark, bringing its 25-year total to $1,023,627. While this year marks the final Curl for a Cause, it also celebrates a legacy of generosity, community spirit, and a passion for giving back that will be remembered for years to come.

The annual curling bonspiel, held February 28 – March 2, 2025 at the Lunenburg Curling Club, brought together curlers of all skill levels for an unforgettable weekend of camaraderie, competition, and giving back. The excitement on the ice was matched only by the generosity of participants and supporters, with all proceeds going directly to the Lift Fishermen’s campaign, which will fund the installation of 23 new patient ceiling lifts at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, ensuring a lasting and meaningful impact on patient care.

“This year’s event was truly special as we celebrated our 25th anniversary and final Curl for a Cause,” said Anne Cosgrove, Committee Chair. “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our participants, sponsors and dedicated community volunteers who have made this event possible year after year.”

Over the past 25 years, Curl for a Cause has grown into a cornerstone fundraising event, bringing together local businesses, community members and curling enthusiasts to support a meaningful cause.

Organizers extend their heartfelt thanks to West Nova Fuels for their longstanding partnership and unwavering support over the years.

The success of Curl for a Cause would not have been possible without the dedication of its organizing committee: Committee Chair Anne Cosgrove, Al MacIntyre, Heather Eisenhauer, Graham Mowbray, Graham Pratt, Jennifer Schurr, Melissa Patterson, and Kerri Scheuermann.

“The 25th anniversary of Curl for a Cause was milestone year, and we are thrilled to hit a new milestone in raising over $1 million for Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital,” said Arleen Stevens, Executive Director of the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore. “Every dollar raised through Curl for a Cause stays right here at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and the impact of our community’s generosity can be felt across each and every department.”

Though Curl for a Cause has come to an end, its impact will continue to be felt for years to come.
